She heard Hope's voice. She glimpsed sadness in his downturned face, but she also saw determination there. They had truly achieved a miracle - they had saved the people of Cocoon. Surely freeing Vanille and Fang from their crystal prison was nothing in comparason. That was what she imagined him thinking, at least.

By the way, in the quotes, if you see "..." before or after, I cut it off. In FF XIII-2, he mentions Fang as well but he always mentions Vanille first so. XD He's more closer to Vanille than Fang. I don't remember seeing much interaction between Fang and Hope but I'm sure he wants her back as well. But seeing how this is a Vanille/Hope kiss PLZ, I cut her name off.
I died when karuru told me that in FF 13-2, he says "And I miss Vanille's smile." asisgdiiuqdgiuqdqgui.
If you watched the smile scene between them in FF 13, it seems like Hope was just joking but HE'S FORREAL.

A glistening crystal amidst a lush green. Someone standing still before that pillar. It wasn’t him, but the crystal itself that was singing. Strangely, it seemed that he didn’t hear that song. That had to be why he somehow seemed lonely.
If only he could hear that song too.
The man stopped before the crystal seemed lonely, but there was a great light in his eyes. Even the young me could understand he was someone who sought to fulfill something by his own strength.
